Karim Henkesh was born in Cairo in 1981. At age 7 he was accepted to the Conservatoire Music Academy. After graduating, Karim continued his musical education at the Arabic Music Academy where he was known as a very talented violin player. While at the Academy, Karim was selected to be a member of the National Band of Folkloric Arts and quickly became one of their leading performers.

Karim can be heard performing as lead violinist on Cry to the Moon where he plays solo for two Om Khalsoum classics, Ana Fe Intezarak and Al-Hob Keda.
